Problems Faced With Influencer Marketing In Asia

Problems Faced With Influencer Marketing In Asia

Here are some of the problems marketers face when starting influencer marketing campaigns in Asia.

1. Language

There are 2,197 spoken languages in Asia. Communicating with influencers may already be challenging enough however once there's a language barrier it almost seems impossible. Looking at the infographic below, Mandarin is the most spoken language in Asia, however English takes over as the most popular language used online. It's important to know how to communicate with influencers to ensure that your message gets conveyed to their following and in turn benefit your brand. Note: the communication method also plays a role, emails, telephone and direct message via social media accounts works well with micro influencers whereas higher ranked influencers may prefer to work through mangers or agencies.

2. Lack Of Understanding And Knowledge

Although the influencer marketing trend is quickly catching on in Asia, most people are still not aware of how influencers can make money compared to people in other regions that make a living being a full time instagrammer/ vlogger/ blogger.

3. Inexperience

Some social media stars in Asia aren't aware of the influence they have over their followers and how to monetize this. This ties in with the second point, lack of understanding. However we’ve recently seen an increase in Asian influencers working with international brands. This trend will continue to grow in Asia. Working with experienced influencers can be beneficial as they understand how to engage their audience and promote your product effectively. By checking the influencers feed for sponsored posts, is a good indication of how experienced the influencer is. Comparing sponsored posts to unpaid posts to see the engagement will give you a good idea of how effective your campaign will be.

Its not all bad news, selecting the right influencer for your brand can be incredibility effective in reaching your target audience, increasing brand awareness, gaining trust from your audience and has worked for many brands worldwide. Withfluence has worked with brands such as SKII, MINON and MIA to reach millions of Asian consumers through social media influencers. Get started for free by visiting www.withfluence.com
